1. Who supplies the service
The service is supplied by Sujan. “Katha Hijo Ko” is the project identity used for the oral-history work and website.

Oral History Service Terms
These terms explain the standard Family Oral History Film service in Victoria. The enquiry form does not itself confirm a booking. Final dates, any unusual scope and payment timing are confirmed in writing before production.
2. Standard package
The current standard package is A$2,000 total and includes pre-interview planning, up to 120 minutes of filming, a professionally edited film of at least 30 minutes, 1 reasonable correction round, a presentation USB and private digital delivery. Standard travel is within approximately 30 km of Bendigo. Anything outside the package is quoted before you agree to it.
3. Booking and payment
Submitting the website form is an enquiry only. A booking is confirmed only after the production details and payment terms are provided in writing and accepted. No card details are collected by the enquiry form. Any invoice/receipt will identify the legal seller and the service purchased.
4. Participant permission
The customer arranging the film and the person being interviewed may be different people. The interview participant must freely agree to being audio/video recorded. The participant’s permission is recorded separately from the customer’s booking request. If the participant cannot provide their own informed permission, contact us before booking so the correct legal/guardian process can be considered.
5. Private by default
The standard commissioned film is for private family use. Payment does not give Katha Hijo Ko automatic permission to publish the participant’s image, voice or story. Public Katha Hijo Ko/YouTube use, private project archiving and marketing use are separate permissions. Marketing permission is not assumed from public-story permission.
6. Editing and revisions
The producer chooses the strongest material from the recorded conversation to create a coherent finished film of at least the promised duration. The included correction round is intended for factual/name corrections and reasonable finishing changes, not a complete re-edit into a different production. Additional work can be quoted separately.
7. Delivery, USB and production files
The target delivery period is approximately 4 weeks unless a different date is agreed in writing. The final film is supplied on USB and digitally. Raw camera/audio files and editable project files are not included in the standard package. Unless otherwise agreed, working/raw files may be deleted after approximately 90 days following delivery, so customers should keep their delivered copies safely.
8. Family photographs, documents and music
If the customer supplies photographs, home video, documents or other material, they confirm they have authority to provide it for the private family production. Material that is later approved for public release may require additional rights clearance. Commercial music is not promised merely because a song has personal meaning to the family.
9. Copyright and permitted use
The customer receives the delivered film for ongoing private family viewing, copying and sharing within the family. Copyright ownership and any broader licence are confirmed in the written production agreement. Katha Hijo Ko receives no public or promotional right to the participant merely because the customer paid for production; those uses require the relevant separate permission.
10. Rescheduling and cancellation
Illness and changing circumstances can be especially relevant when recording elders, so reasonable rescheduling will be handled in good faith. Any cancellation charge must reflect the agreed terms and reasonable work/costs already incurred. These terms do not exclude rights that cannot legally be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
11. Consumer guarantees
Services are provided subject to the consumer guarantees that apply under Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms is intended to remove a remedy or right that the law says cannot be removed.
12. Privacy and sensitive stories
Oral histories can contain sensitive family, health, cultural or personal information. We collect only what is reasonably needed for the enquiry, production, consent and delivery process. See the Oral History Privacy Notice. The participant may ask to pause or stop the interview during recording.
